This allows us to immediately modify the dialysis conditions, if necessary, and achieve the best possible results.<\/p>\n

The Dialysis Unit is located on the 2nd floor of Mediterraneo Hospital and is easily accessible to people with disabilities. It consists of two (2) extracorporeal dialysis halls equipped with twenty-four (24) Nikkiso DBB-EXA individual dialysis devices.<\/p>\n

In line with the latest developments in the field, water is processed online, with continuous monitoring of water purity.<\/p>\n

All dialysis treatments are offered (classic, hemofiltration etc). Membranes used are fully compatible with patients and provide scope for high standard dialysis.<\/p>\n

The determination of dry weight is one of the most demanding and difficult issues that directly affects the survival of patients. In our unit, in addition to the classic clinical evaluation, radiological examination or heart ultrasound, we successfully apply two other methods that quickly and very effectively help us determine the dry weight of the dialysis patient:<\/p>\n

The first method<\/strong> is the ultrasound assessment of the right ventricle and the inferior vena cava, as well as the ultrasound assessment of the lungs for the presence of pleural effusion or fluid overload.<\/p>\n

The second method<\/strong>, based on bio-impedance, painlessly and quickly determines the dry weight of the patient. The Dialysis Unit uses Maltron’s state-of-the-art machine with artificial intelligence algorithms which, in addition, gives us valuable information about the patient’s bone density, muscle mass and fluid distribution.<\/p>\n

The medical and nursing staff is very experienced<\/em> and fully able to tackle any problem that could arise. Also, integrating the Unit into a modern and fully operational hospital provides the significant advantage of interdepartmental support:<\/p>\n
